As founder of Youth internet Morals, i have observed over the years how internet users and social media users have Expressed hate online and the use of hate speech through arguments and judgements standing on the back up of the way others show case thier religious rituals, believe, actions and messages. A clear example could be seen in the mist of Christians from different denominations disagreeing on Biblical messages, interpretations and revelations. This has cause lost of hate online and comments such as ( fake pastors, satanic pastors, fake churches, stupid christians, brain washed christians …you can mention some in your mind) Being a Christian, this particular issue on social media saddens me. Is it not possible to disagree with someone’s religious practices on social media without using Hate Speech? For how long are we going to hide behind our religious differences to insult others and religious authorities. The internet world has be come like a virus zone where one needs to develop and build a strong Antivirus defense system in other not to get contaminated. The effects of hate speech online can’t be underestimated.
Is it not preferable to see beyond our differences in region and exchange the best amongst ourselves for mutual growth in the internet? Remember every negativity shared online has a negative effect on many.
